Karthik Musunuri has over 9 years of experience in the healthcare industry. Karthik’s experience in big pharma includes R&D clinical development and commercial vaccines at GSK. He also held a commercial role of increasing responsibility at Merck within chronic care. In addition, he worked at LexisNexis and QuintilesIMS in market research and risk analyses and handled numerous projects within the life sciences and healthcare space.
Dr. Jain is a National Eye Institute/NIH funded clinician-scientist and an Associate Professor in Ophthalmology at the University of Illinois at Chicago Department of Ophthalmology. He serves as an attending in the UIC Cornea Service and as Director of the Dry Eye and ocular GVHD clinic. He also directs the Translational Biology Laboratory in the Department. His research work has led to numerous publications in professional journals as well as development of drugs that are in phase I/II clinical trials. He is a member of the Editorial Board of leading Journals in Ophthalmology such as Investigative Ophthalmology and Visual Science, Ocular Surface and Scientific Reports. He has been named one of America’s Best Doctors® since 2007 and has received the American Academy of Ophthalmology’s Achievement Award. He has received numerous awards and recognition, including Departmental Faculty of the Year from UIC and Clinician-Scientist Award from Research to Prevent Blindness. He has served as primary mentor on NEI/NIH grants for clinician-scientist career development of junior faculty. After receiving his medical degree, Dr. Jain joined the Wilmer Ophthalmological Institute at The Johns Hopkins University as a pre-residency fellow and completed his residency training in Ophthalmology at the Harkness Eye Institute at Columbia University, New York, followed by subspecialty fellowship in Corneal Diseases at the Massachusetts Eye & Ear Infirmary/Harvard Medical School.
